No fasting or special preparation is required for a standalone CBC test. The blood sample can be collected at any time of the day. If this test is ordered alongside fasting tests (such as a Fasting Blood Sugar or Lipid Profile), please follow the 8 to 12-hour fasting requirement specified for those tests.

Fasting is generally not strictly required for a basic Liver Function Test (LFT), and you can eat and drink normally if your doctor advised it. However, laboratories often prefer a fasting sample. This is because eating right before the test can temporarily affect certain markers (like Alkaline Phosphatase), and fasting for 10 to 12 hours ensures the most accurate baseline results.
